Pitaya is a community coffee lot of pink bourbon with a bit of caturra from producers in South Huila, Palestina region. It is a classic profile easily found in this area, with stonefruit, soft acidity and creamy body and syrupy sweetness. This cup profile shares similar sensory
characteristics to the tropical fruit Pitaya which is commonly grown in Palestina along with coffee, hence the name of this lovely coffee.

Pitaya is grown in South Huila , at the doorstep of a UNESCO Biosphere reserve, the Colombian Massif, a place where mountain ranges meet and rivers are born. The Colombian massif holds about 70% of Colombia’s freshwater: it is the birthplace of the country’s major rivers: the Magdalena, Cauca, Patía, Caquetá and Putumayo rivers, which in turn feed the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, and the Amazon River.

With its 4.5 million hectares, the Colombian Massif has many ecosystems peaking at 4,600 masl. It is essential to Colombia and the world, maintaining an impressive biological, landscape and cultural wealth.

This makes the soils rich and fertile for agriculture. This location explains why coffees thrives so much in Huila, now the biggest coffee producing region of Colombia.
